Calling all passionate anglers up to 17 years of age – we are forming an Advanced Youth Fishing Club and registration is open! Our Fall 2024 Club includes 3 on-the-water fishing trips and 3 classroom sessions. The trips are on our boats and led by Aaron Graybill (founder of Lake Hopatcong Guide Service and Greenwood Lake Guide Service) and other members of our guide team. There are two trips on Greenwood Lake and one on Lake Hopatcong. Two weeks before each trip there are corresponding classroom sessions held at Ramsey Outdoor store in Succasunna. Each classroom session we will discuss three different topics (what to expect on the upcoming boat trip, a career/skill in the fishing industry, and a general fishing topic), there are 3 different classroom sessions, 9 topics total. They are below…

Classroom Session #1

Topic #1 – “What to Expect”:
Discuss the group’s upcoming (10/6) Greenwood Lake Walleye trip – fish locations, movements, gear, and lure choices. How we will catch them in 2 weeks when we hit the water together!

Become the Next YouTube Fishing Sensation!
Kids will learn from David Park how to create, grow, and monetize their own brand on social media. Not only is David a member of our guide staff (Musky + Pike guide for LHGS/GLGS), he is also the man behind “DKAM Fishing” on social media. To date, he has amassed close to 300 million views and has 450k subscribers/followers between his YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook accounts. He will be sharing the story behind “DKAM Fishing”, how to create fishing content, brand-building, and social media strategies/tips to increase views/follows.

Tournament Bass Fishing and Fall Bass Patterns in NJ
Learn all about life as a tournament bass angler, how to get started, mapping out a plan, how to gain sponsors, and the dedication that is required to be successful. In addition, we will discuss fall patterns and baits that our club members should be using in NJ this Fall.
Topic #3 Speaker – Daniel Goykhman (LHGS Professional Bass Experience Guide. He is a regular on the MLF (Major League Fishing) Toyota Series Trail, Reynolds Boats Northern Tournament Trail, and ABA (American Bass Association) tournament series.

Topic #1 – “What to Expect”:
Discuss the group’s upcoming (11/3) Musky Trip on Greenwood Lake. Learn about fishing for New Jersey’s apex predator, the famed Muskellunge! Guides will be David Park (aka DKAM Fishing) and Aaron Graybill. We will discuss musky equipment, fish locations, strategy, and lure selection for their upcoming Musky outing. Our kids will have a legitimate shot at the fish of a lifetime on this trip.

The Art of Rod Building
Our Fishing Club kids will learn the art of rod building. This includes step-by-step instruction on how to choose the correct rod blank, picking the correct components, and then teaching them how to build their dream fishing rod from scratch.

Topic #3 – “General Fishing Topic”
Fall Trout Fishing in New Jersey
Learn about state stocking procedures, finding productive trout waters, reading moving water and identifying trout-holding targets, the difference in fishing for stocked vs wild fish, “matching the hatch”, and go-to tactics to catch trout in NJ on your own.

On The Water Trip #2 – Musky Fishing on Greenwood Lake with “DKAM Fishing” and Aaron Graybill

Topic #1 – “What to Expect”:
Discuss the group’s upcoming (12/1) trip on Lake Hopatcong for Hybrid Stripers and Walleye. This late-season bite is one of the best times to target these two big gamefish. We will discuss in-depth our rod setups, baits, water temps, and fish location during one of our favorite bites of the year.

Pouring Soft Plastic Baits
The group will get to create and keep their own soft plastic baits! We partnered with Battle Creek Baits to create our own line of soft plastic baits… and it has been so fun creating our own baits and colors, that we had to include this! Topics will include selecting the proper mold, using the correct plastic, color options, injection process, materials, etc.

Ice Fishing and Other Winter Fishing Options in NJ
We will discuss ways for our kids to effectively catch fish in NJ during the winter ahead. Ice fishing, ultra light techniques from shore, river fishing, and targeting the correct species in cold water.
